Charlotte's 1-month birthday yesterday was very exciting - so exciting that she spent today satting up and down regardless of what her oxygen percentage was set at. Much of this has to do with the CPAP, the air blows into her nose so if she opens her mouth it escapes or if the device isn't on just right it doesn't get a good seal around her nose. In any case, she's doing pretty well.
Her feeds stayed at 16 mls today, but the milk is now being fortified. Premies need extra protein, so the nurses add a powder to fortify the milk, making it denser. If she continues to digest the fortified milk her feeds will be increased tomorrow.
Her first eye exam was normal today, nothing remarkable. Her next exam will be in 3 weeks.
Patrick got to hold her for a little while today but she was a bit sensitive and didn't want to be touched. Hopefully she gets some good rest and feels better tomorrow.

Protein shakes and outside oxygen - she's on her way to being a pro-athlete. Happy birthday Charlotte!
I thought of you often today Katie. Amy's 28th birthday and so many memories of her birthdays over the years. The first year was measured in weeks, then in months, and Charlotte has her first month anniversary under her belt already! It is so nice to read of her ongoing improvements and see her growth from picture to picture. Each accomplishment is worthy of a celebration, even if shared by only the three of you. :-)Take care, we'll keep our prayers and good vibes headed your way. -Diane
Wow, One month old. You can see from her pictures that she is growing. Her fan club is delighted to see her progress.

Take care,

We're so glad everthing is improving for Charlotte. Seems like Milwaukee is a great place for her :). It's hard to believe it's been a month already. Keep up the good work, Mom & Dad. We're still saying our prayers for your family. Take care, Chad, Alison, Julianne and Jenavieve Kurth
PS We like Picasa too for our pictures.
