Charlotte has gained a whole pound, now weighing in at 2 lbs 7 oz. It's so fun to look at pictures taken when she was born and compare them to how she looks now. She's still tiny, but her ribs aren't quite as visible anymore. Her growth will continue as she's now being fed 13 mls every 3 hours! Patrick will be uploading more recent photos when he returns from Houghton tomorrow.
She still isn't quite comfortable on the CPAP but she made it through the day. Her x-ray this morning wasn't what the doctors wanted to see so they increased the pressure from 6 to 7 to open her lungs and gave her a diuretic to drain the fluid - it worked, the afternoon x-ray looked quite a bit better.
I got to hold her twice today, for the first time! It almost felt like I could hold her whenever I wanted.

Grow, little Charlotte, grow! :) She's eating more than a UT football player these days, eh? Good to see that things are looking brighter today! We love you guys!
I'm excited to see new pictures! Way to go Charlotte, now that you have made tummy improvements due to that Mommy's milk your Daddy brought you, the next step is building up those lungs. A step at a time and the next thing you know you will be headed home to Houghton with Mom & Dad. Our prayers continue for all three of you and your caregivers too.
Way to go little Charlotte, I knew you were a fighter! keep up the good work little angel, you are beautiful and we all want you to get stronger and bigger. We all love you! even if we only know you by pictures and messages.
A big kiss for you and a hug to your parents from Guatemala. Maybe someday you can visit us and let us hold you too!
My prayers are for you little girl.
You guys are doing great! Hang in there!
It's such a great feeling when you finally get to hold her more freely! Wait 'til she moves to the "open crib", then you should be able to just walk in and scoop her up without asking permission or anything! :) We're so glad to hear Charlotte's doing better and eating and growing! Willow had continuous issues with fluid in her lungs too - on and off the diuretics. I guess "Vitamin T" is the cure!
