Well, try number 2 on the cannula is over. Charlotte was put back on CPAP this morning. She was breathing very fast, a sign she wasn't ready. The doctors explained her chest muscles are very, very small so it's difficult for her to breathe. As she continues to eat she'll gain weight, which should help.
She hasn't been gaining weight lately and is down 1 oz to 2 lbs 6 oz, but did gain 20 grams yesterday.
Quite a few desats today, as low as 44, but then she jumps right up to 97. I can't wait for her stats to level out.
I got to give her a bath and dress her all by myself today - no nurse supervision. I'm getting pretty good at working around cords and tubes.
Her blankets and dress are dirty so I have a start to her first load of dirty laundry. I'm so excited I don't think I'll ever be sick of washing her little clothes.

There will be plenty of dirty laundry... just wait! And don't hold your breath on the sats leveling out. It all takes time. She'll get there, though!
Charolette is definitely your little miracle - Enjoy doing her laundry! ;)
Love, Marissa
I'm glad you're finally getting to be an unsupervised mom, Katie - it's about time! I can't wait until Charlotte's little chest muscles get stronger and she can get back to the cannules. One day at a time, I suppose.
Keeping you in my thoughts,
Kelly
